The Spa at Anchorage By The Sea
Position Summary
The Spa at Anchorage Spa Massage Therapist is responsible for ensuring the seamless delivery of massage and body treatments, adhering to brand standards, and providing guests with the highest levels of service and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide massage and body treatments to guests in accordance with spa and brand standards.
- Promote wellness and accommodate guests to help achieve their individual goals.
- Assess guest needs and inquire about contraindications prior to commencing service.
- Escort guests to and from treatment rooms and other spa areas as requested.
- Prepare treatment room and work areas at the beginning and the end of each shift.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout shift; sanitize and properly store tools and equipment at the end of each shift.
- Promote and upselling treatments, Meditation Sessions Yoga Sessions as well as retail suited to guest needs.
- Keep up to date with current techniques and modalities related to the field of work.
- Periodically ascertain guest comfort, safety, and privacy throughout the service, directing all efforts toward guest satisfaction.
- Handle guest incidents in accordance with Giri Hotels Standard Operating Procedures and inform supervisor/manager as needed.
- Report on any treatment room defects to spa management to ensure prompt follow-up.
- Maintain current skills and license in specialized areas according per state requirements.
- Ensure uniform and appearance are tidy and professional, in line with grooming standards.
- Adhere to all Giri Hotels Brand Standards, department procedures, and spa service standards.
Operational Support Responsibilities
- Laundry Support:
Therapists will be assigned a designated daily time allocation (approximately 30–60 minutes per shift, depending on business levels) to assist with in-house spa laundry duties, including washing, drying, folding, organizing linens, and maintaining par levels. - Front Desk / Guest Coverage:
When required, therapists may assist with front desk coverage to support guest needs. Responsibilities may include greeting guests, answering phones, confirming appointments, retail support, maintaining the spa reception area, and ensuring seamless guest flow during peak or limited staffing periods.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Must possess current and valid license as a massage therapist in the state ( Maine) of employment.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a luxury spa environment.
- Certified and skilled in performing various massage modalities.
Physical Requirements
- Flexible hours required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to manipulate objects of varying size and weight.
General Requirements
- Passion for guest care.
- Sound understanding of spa and wellness.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with team members and guests.
- Proficiency in massage techniques, anatomy, and physiology.
- Results-oriented with a strong commitment to meeting and exceeding sales goals.
Technical Proficiency
- Experience with spa booking systems, POS platforms, CRM tools, and digital scheduling software.
- Skilled in product education, cross-selling strategies, and service enhancement techniques.
Additional Information
· Compensation: Therapists will receive 27% commission on services, plus a 20% mandatory service charge paid by the guest. In the event a guest refuses to pay the mandatory service charge, the therapist will receive the amount (if any) left by the guest in its place.
· Employment Status: Therapists will be engaged as independent contractors (1099 status) under Giri Hotels.
