I am attorney in Boston who is currnetly representing a licensed massage therapist in a disciplinary matter before the Massachusetts licensing board. In order to resolve the matter, the Board is insisting that he hire an individual to be a practice monitor for one year. The practice monitor would be responsible for reviewing documentation and potentially observing practice operations on occasion, and then drafting quarterly reports to be submitted to the Board.
No experience as a practice monitor is required. The monitor would need to be a licensed massage therapist in Massachusetts. Experience as an instructor at a school or in continuing education classes would be helpful (but again not required).
Please note, this is a limited engagement position. However, it is extremely difficult to find practice monitors in Massachusetts in these situations. So if it works out, it is possible there would be the opportunity to perform similar services for other therapists facing board discipline.
