Recruiting for Full and Part-time Massage Therapist

We have been serving the Greater Portland area for 14 years.  We are the world’s number one provider of customized therapeutic massage, Assisted Stretch and skincare treatments.  We have been voted “Best Massage in Greater Portland” for the past 13 years in a row!

Our aim is to provide clients the best possible service by creating the most comfortable working atmosphere for professional service providers regardless of where they are in their career.  This would include providing a steady number of clients, a state-of-the art working environment and high-income potential that includes permanent QUARTERLY RAISES and multiple bonus opportunities.

We have hired many dozens of Spatech graduates with wonderful success!  The graduates come loaded with enthusiasm and are very well prepared to serve our clients.

Essential Requirements:

We are looking for reliable and organized therapists who have established specific personal goals balanced with a sincere desire to make a real difference in the lives of the clients they serve.

General

• Our therapists are busy… all the time!…From their first day!  There’s no waiting around for business!

• We are not At All seasonal! … We are just as busy in February as in August!  This makes a big difference in a therapist’s annual income and steady income flow!

• Our therapists are scheduled exactly as they wish.  The schedule can include as many 30 or 60-minute breaks as the therapist would like!  Each therapist decides:

How many days they want to work each week, how many massages they want to do in a day, how many breaks they would like and how many Deep Tissue Massages they are comfortable offering in a day (if they do any at all).

(Schedules are consistent so that therapists can easily plan their other life priorities)

• Therapists have no expenses!  Our company pays for everything including each therapist’s membership in AMTA which covers his/her personal liability insurance.
• Massage Envy offers a base hourly wage, several very achievable bonus opportunities and permanent base pay raises every quarter!

• Therapists receive bonuses of $6 every time a guest chooses to add enhancements such as the ThermaBliss Stone Treatment, Cupping or CBD Cream.  Bonuses of $4 are earned every time a guest elects to add an enhancement such as Aroma Therapy, Muscle Care, Rapid Tension Relief Enhanced Muscle Therapy, Exfoliating Hand and Foot Treatments and K-Tapping.  Adding any of the enhancements takes no extra time and in some, cases less effort.

• Our therapists get unusually good gratuities because we manage the process!

• We do a great deal of advertising so…Therapists would not need to self-promote unless they wish to.

• We have NO problem with our therapists having a private practice in addition to working with us!  We do not have any non-compete agreement!

Therapists who are considering starting a private practice do extremely well when they start out by saving all the time they need to serve their own clients and working with us for the schedule that works for them.  This gives them a chance to be extremely busy and well paid from day one, while they build their own practice.  It also gives them a chance to experience operating a private practice and working with a team of other professionals to see which feels best or if the combination might be something to continue with.

• We have other employees who handle all phone calls, schedule all appointments, do check-ins and check-outs and laundry etc.

• Our Membership Program makes massage far more affordable and encourages regular massage.  Members usually stay loyal to the therapist they start with. 

• If a member or guest, does NOT request a therapist by name…The appointment goes to least booked therapist for that day to help new therapists get off to a quick start!

• We want to be sure that our therapists stay healthy!!!  New therapists take a break after each session until they are totally comfortable and choose to begin taking less breaks (Therapists decide when, and if, they are ready to make any schedule changes)

• Massage Envy also offers a guaranteed first-year income of at least $50,000 to therapists who wish to work up to being on the schedule for 27 massage hours (whether they are booked for that many or not). 

Benefits

Available benefits include Worker’s Comp and Unemployment Insurance.  Full-time therapists (25 hours or more/week) have access to group health insurance (Company pays for 50% of the cost), dental insurance and paid personal days.  All staff earn paid vacation time.  Staff can also opt in to contribute into the Maine Retirement Investment Trust to benefit from a Roth IRA.

• Free Crisis Assistance

All our therapists have free access to licensed counselors any time of the day or night, 7 days a week, 365 days a year!  These calls are completely confidential.  The councilors can provide them with professional assistance on such subjects as Anxiety, Anger Management, Depression, Stress Management, Grief, Family Counseling, Marital Concerns, Substance Abuse and Work-life Balance.

Job Description 

Providing a high-level consistent professional massage service to each client.

• Provide massage sessions that are specifically customized to address the needs and wishes of each client

• Explaining any enhanced, extra service a client may wish to add to his/her session that would help them reach their personal objectives and recommending an enhancement when it is discerned that the additional service would benefit the client. (Therapist receives bonuses for each)

• Providing a list of massage modalities, each therapist chooses to offer.

• Offering each client, a choice as to whether to include music, how much amount light he/she would like in the room and the desired temperature, made available by heated and hydraulic tables.

• Recommend a frequency of care to best serve the client’s needs.

• Keeping the treatment room ready for the next client and for the next therapist at the end of the shift.

• Working as part of a top professional team that helps each other whenever necessary.  Our therapists love to share suggestions on things that are making them extremely successful.
