Stylist Assistant
Job Description:

We are a team-based salon. Our team members support each other relentlessly through their actions, decisions, and words because we are all working towards the same goal: providing clients with the very best in curly hair services, every time.

We are seeking a dedicated team member to join our fast-paced, client-oriented floor team. This is a part time position starting in winter 2020. Hours will begin at 15 - 20 per week with a clear, benchmarked, and achievable 18-month track to be full time by fall 2021. Candidates should be reliable, punctual, and obsessed with people. The floor team is the soul of the salon; this team member should be comfortable and excited in a socially interactive role.

Responsibilities and Duties

 

  • Partner with a pre-assigned stylist throughout the day to service clients including (but not limited to):

    • Station preparation

    • Client consultation and preparation (proper draping)

    • In-sink duties

      • Rinsing

      • Product application

      • Toning

      • Et al

    • Mixing color/lightener

    • Drying and diffusing

    • Product recommendations and consultations

    • Fluffing, appointment closeout, and handoff

  • Become a product expert and make recommendations to a variety of curls throughout the day; we currently carry the following brands, and we are always looking for new, aligned companies to partner with: CULT + KING, CurlyWorld, DevaCurl, Innersense Organic Beauty, Jessicurl, Pravana, Olaplex, Original Moxie, Redken, and Witch i Love Your Hair

  • Maintain an incredibly meticulous work station and salon, sanitizing regularly and routinely including Barbiciding all combs, clips, and tools

  • Actively support all members of the team; proactively seek out opportunities to help the tribe

  • Prioritize 100% client satisfaction above all else, always

  • Through provided training, become familiar with the our web-based salon management platform, Phorest; occasionally cash out clients and scheduling appointments

  • Eagerly assume responsibility for the salon's social media channels for one or more pre-assigned day(s) of the week, fulfilling requirements as outlined by the team’s social media schedule

  • Simultaneously and efficiently manage several work streams throughout the day, prioritizing along the way and never leaving undone ends

  • Engagingly participate in regularly scheduled team meetings, special events, retreats, and team-building occasions several times throughout the year

  • Enthusiastically accept other duties as assigned including (but not limited to) cleaning, restocking, organizing, replenishing, washing, drying, and folding laundry, cleaning and filling the back bar, and much, much more

Qualifications

  • Cosmetology license or an anticipated graduation date

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred

  • Minimum of two years experience in one or more of the following industries strongly preferred: customer service, cosmetology, hospitality, administrative, spa/salon
