Experienced Licensed Massage Therapist
Job Description:

Hourly, Non-Exempt

Hours: Part Time but may grow to full time if clientele grows

 

Scope and Function:

The Massage Therapist is an important part of any medical massage practice and uses their skills to assist clients with their healing process from illness and injuries. An LMT is a key component in the recovery process and provides support, reassurance and expertise as part of the client’s team of medical experts. A skilled Massage Therapist is able to perform accurate assessments of a client’s condition and issues and create a plan based on that assessment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assessing client needs and developing a treatment plan based on that assessment and/or referring physician.
  • Providing massage therapy to medical clients and worker’s compensation clients in quality sessions of 60 to 90 minutes.
  • Performing data entry and SOAP notes for each client post-visit
  • Maintaining a clean and healthy environment for each client in the treatment and waiting areas
  • Checking clients in and out for appointments
  • Answering phones and booking appointments only as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities for success:

  • Strong ability to perform quality professional massage sessions
  • Strong ability to visually and manually assess a client for needs and communicate with them to develop a treatment plan based on that assessment
  • Ability to customize the treatment sessions based on clients’ individual needs and wants
  • Excellent table-side manner, warm and positive attitude
  • Willingness to learn and grow and explore new modalities
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and interest in building and growing their medical massage clientele
  • Ability to set and maintain firm personal and professional boundaries

Education and Experience Required:

  • Licensed massage therapist (LMT) with a current and valid Massachusetts therapy license and current full liability insurance, such as the type provided by ABMP or ATMA or similar (license and insurance will be checked prior to starting)
  • Two (2) or more years of experience as a massage therapist
  • Medical or orthopedic massage a PLUS

Physical Requirements:

Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

This work requires seated and standing positions, movement, large and small motor ability (including grasping and feeling), pulling, pushing, reaching, bending, squatting, lifting, communication skills and fine motor for computer use. The employee is not subject to any weather conditions and most work is performed indoors.
